Elatec's ELAVAC™ line services the heat treating and brazing market. Elatec also offers the ELABAR™ line of 2,6,10 and 20 bar fast gas quench and oil quench in batch, semi-continuous and continuous machines. The MELTVAC™ line includes VIM and VAR melters. The PLASVAC™ line includes dedicated and multipurpose ion nitriding, annealing, tempering and heat treating furnaces.
The CHEMVAC™ line covers coating and CVD processes. The ATOVEN™ line does low temperature vacuum processing. Typically, vacuum furnaces are used to remove oxygen. Some processes require the addition of oxygen later in the cycle. Elatec's ATVAC™ and ATOVEN™ lines were designed with special insulation to meet that requirement.
The MOLDVAC™ line of batch and continuous furnaces will debind and sinter metal injected metal parts. The proprietary Moldvac Heaters make thermal debinding rapid and easy to scale up from pilot plant production.
The AEROVAC ™ and PRESSVAC™ vacuum hot press and diffusion bonding furnaces are standard to 500 tons and 2200ºC. They can come with single or multiple rams and in batch or semi-continuous models.
The LABVAC™, VERSAVAC™ and VERTIVAC™ lines are laboratory size furnaces which have over 40 accessory modules to allow virtually all known material processes to be done in a single basic furnace. These units should never become obsolete.
The TUBEVAC™ line is a specialty line of vacuum quartz tube and stainless tube furnaces.
The SPACEVAC™ line covers the need to test products in space simulation chambers.
Elatec's GLOVEBOXES™ are custom made to meet your most stringent requirements.
Existing system modifications with special accessories is an Elatec specialty. Elatec also rebuilds vacuum furnaces to original factory specifications. H.K. Equipment, Inc. our sister company, stocks vacuum furnaces, vacuum pumps, laboratory and industrial equipment for the USED equipment market. Elatec can refurbish and warrant most of this equipment offering buyers a viable alternative to the high cost of new equipment.
Elatec's LABVAC™ Line of Laboratory Furnaces is the most complete range of research size furnaces made in the world. The key word describing the LAB VAC™ Line is "multipurpose". All of the LABVAC™ products have been designed to allow accessories and modules to be added to expand the product versatility and process capabilities. Here you will see the standard equipment of the LABVAC™ furnaces, but our furnaces are custom made to your exact specification.
Ahamber Cylindrical and horizontal, the Vessel is in stainless steel (type 304). The chamber is completely surrounded by a baffled water jacket for enhanced uniform cooling. The stainless chamber is hand polished to a bright finish. Ultra high vacuum chambers are hand polished to a fine finish and then electropolished.
The standard Vessel is composed of ports for the accessories and other ports may be added as needed. The standard LABVAC™ has a hinged stainless steel front door with a water jacket and internal baffling. The chamber jacket is pressure tested and Helium leak tested. The chamber is Helium leak tested and has a guarantied leak-up rate of 10 microns/hour.
The chamber is warranted 5 years. A large pumping port (20" diameter flange) provides a stable support. The complete system is mounted on a cabinet also enclosing the pumping system. These shields can be Stainless Steel, Molybdenum, Tungsten, Platinum or Tantalum. Metallic radiation shields are depending on temperature typically used in high vacuum operations where Hot Zone cleanliness and rapid pumpdown is a factor.
Water cooled copper power feedthroughs carry current from the power leads outside the furnace. The feedthroughs include 0-ring vacuum seals and nylon electrical insulators to isolate the feedthroughs from the chamber. "Quick-Fit" vacuum fiffings are used for easy removal for maintenance and reinstallation.
Elatec has 12 combinations of heating elements each with unique properties, used for your specific process requirements. A graphite hot zone includes 4 sided graphite rod heating elements, rigidized graphite fibrous insulation, graphite hearth plate, and support posts. A metal hot zone includes durable metal elements, metal radiation shields, metal hearth rails and metal support posts. The hot zones are mounted in a stainless steel support frame. Layers of thin metallic radiation shields are used to reflect and contain the heat within the effective working area of the Hot Zone.
The basic vacuum management system consisting of a two stage rotary vane mechanical vacuum pump system and of a Diffusion Pump (or other pumps such as Cryogenic, Turbomolecular, Ion or Absorption pumps).
Pumping System This basic pumping system allows the LABVAC™ to provide an ultimate pressure of 10-6 torr (when the chamber is in a clean, dry, empty, outgassed and room temperature condition. A vacuum manifolding with vibration isolation, thermocouple gauge port, automatic vent valve and one air operated vacuum valve are also provide.
The standard LABVAC™ uses a Closed Drain Cold Water System which matches existing plant water system. Included is an inlet distribution manifold with a pressure gauge, temperature, and separately valved circuits for chamber, power feedthrough and pumping system. Inlet and Outlet alarmed pressure switches warn of low water pressure. Cooling water is distributed to the chamber, power supply, power cable, some types of optional pumps, and some accessory modules (i.e... FLOWTRAP™).
The LABVAC™ Control Center is regularly up dated with the most recent models of electronic control devices. We propose standard model of recognized manufacturers but you can choose other equivalent brands of control devices for your convenience.
The LABVAC™ uses an enclosed cabinet for simplified servicing with easy front and rear access panels.
The Control Center will contain all operator controls face mounted on the right side of the chamber.
The A.C power supply package includes low voltage high current power transformer (saturable core reactor or Silicon Controlled Rectifier SRC), linear power controller with current limiter, integral manual start undervoltage trip breaker and water flow safety switch. Standard eight foot flexible, water-cooled copper power leads are provided.
RAPICOOL™
For higher product throughput, Elatec offers Rapicool™ line of gas recirculation systems. Rapicool™ uses a high velocity fan to push gas out of the hot zone and draw the gases along the water-cooled chamber wall.
Workbox WORKBOX™
A graphite Workbox™ enhances temperature uniformity, as the sides of the box are uniformly heated by continuous contact. It can be used in conjunction with other accessories to contain and direct potentially contaminating binders or gases out of the hot zone.
REBO™
Exothermic reactions ca generate heat causing thermal "runaway". Rebo™ controls exothermic reactions by introducing inert gas stopping thermal runaway. Endothermic reactions are controlled by maintaining a preset heating rate.

HYDROFLAME™
Elatec's Hydroflamme™ Flowing Hydrogen Burn-off System is an electrically interlocked system designed to provide safe operation of positive pressures of flowing hydrogen for use with non condensable binder burn-off or burn-off to high odor binders. The Hydroflamme™ accessory is also used for high temperature reduction of metal oxides using hydrogen. The purge system consists of: inlet valving, flow-meters and pressure switches for hydrogen and inert gas (normally nitrogen); chamber high and low pressure switches; vacuum valve interlock; exhaust valve and flow restrictor.
Load Cart LOAD CART
A manual cart for loading the furnace, or a power assisted cart is an ideal matching accessory to assist the operator.
The load cart can have "stops" to prevent it from damaging the hot zone, and "guides rails" to guide it into the hot zone.
